dragging to the tab area

Post by Joso »

I know about shft, ctl&alt clicking from the tree to open folders in tabs but...

what I'd like to be able to do is drag the subdir from the list (and the tree) to the tab area of either pane, and have it stick (and open with focus) - I know I can drag a tab from one pane to another (I can even drag a file to tab), so it seems logical that I should be able to drag subdirs around willy nilly.

The "tab area"... you mean the right "white" area (where no tab headers are)?

Yep, that's what I meant. Makes sense. I make a note...

Very interesting idea! Are you aware of any other FM that currently does this?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

How coincidental that you post this. I usually drag & drop my favorites in Opera browser onto the empty space open new tab and was wondering yesterday how useful this would be in XY.
But i see a conflict (potentially dangerous) in that it might get dropped into a folder and get copied. So there should be some protection against that.

It's a bit similar as dragging stuff to the Catalog: if added to a category the cursor turns to a "black plus", and this should also happen when a folder is added to the tabbar.

Sounds good, I'd really use this feature.

Since we are talking about dragging here, has the situation changed with regards to dragging Toolbar buttons to new position? Also, right-click to remove button would be useful. All this low-prio though.
