Sync tags

Occasionally i want to sync tags across panes.
I usually work with one set of files and based on its contents i set tags as and when i find time. But eventually(once a week or so), i plug-in my backup disk and just want to apply these tags to my backup files. I don't want to use backup here because i don't change the content which is in hundreds of GBs.
Does this wish make sense?
