It would be nice if one could combine visual filter and find files, i.e. quickly remove any folders you dont want to search using visual filter and then do a search.
or simply be able to select folders you dont want to search in and drag them directly into excludes folders tab. Including folders one by one from 'add current' or 'manage' is a bit slow to me.

I don't see Visual Filters doing a good job here. Please explain your vision.surrender wrote:It would be nice if one could combine visual filter and find files, i.e. quickly remove any folders you dont want to search using visual filter and then do a search.
Dragging them is okay, and has been wished long ago. I might even add it some day...surrender wrote:or simply be able to select folders you dont want to search in and drag them directly into excludes folders tab. Including folders one by one from 'add current' or 'manage' is a bit slow to me.

Re: Search with visual filter ON
I sometimes end up into a long list of folders which have mostly sequential names and also other random folders. Like 01,02,03, x,y,z ... etc. I can quickly use visual filter to show only numbers and exclude others folders.admin wrote:I don't see Visual Filters doing a good job here. Now, I should be able to do a search of any kind only in these displayed items.
So in visual filter i can set ## and then search only in these folders for what i want.
Look at it as a way to include/exclude folders (like in exclude folders tab)and then do a search.
If I do it with find files alone method,
then first I have to set search to ## (unchecking the include subfolders option) to get the folders 01,02,03 etc and then i am stuck because i dont know how to search inside a search result.
I hope i didnt confuse you too much.

Hm. I don't think Visual Filters is the answer. That would be mixing up two different things.
But what about this idea: location filter by pattern!! Another drop-down right under "Location" where you can state a pattern that searched locations must match. I mean this gets really advanced and will surely confuse new users... but I can see a use for it (not only you
