Collect files from DIFFERENT locations. Copy to new folder
How best and easiest can this be done in the current version?

Tagging. Reserve a tag just for those collection jobs, e.g. "red". Tag all files you want to collect "red" (use the Tag column in the list for easy one-click tagging, or the Tags toolbar button to tag all selected). Then do a search thru the address bar:
Then do your copy using the search results.
Code: Select all

Re: Collect files from DIFFERENT locations. Copy to new folder
Hi all,
Don, that's a great response. Every day I find more and more useful functions in XY
I just never thought of using 'tagging' like this
Just one quick question . . . if I have a number of tagged files and I do a search for them, after my file operations and I no longer need them to be tagged, is there a quick way of removing the tags from all selected files in the search list?
At the moment the only option I can discover is to clear the tag from the top file then click on the 'tag' column for each file in turn. Hey, this isn't really a problem and I can't believe how useful this is. Just wondering
Thanks

EDIT:
Found it (oops
)
In case it's useful to anyone else . . . do your search for files with the chosen tag, then select the ones you want to remove the tag from, then go to menu favourites > tags > (your choice). This makes it quick and easy to either tag a whole bunch of files in one go, or to remove the tag from a selection of files

Yep, you found it. There is also a toolbar button "Tags" with a dropdown menu that makes it even easier.
