Status bar regresses in 9.5!

Post by aurumdigitus »

The way it used to be -
Name/Progress

Displays the icon and name (and, if applicable, version) of the currently focused item (file or folder). By double-clicking these items you can copy them to the clipboard.

If nothing is selected, the used and free bytes of the current drive are shown.
Please give us an Option or Tweak to go back to that behavior and get rid of the new icon that appears now.

Rationale: it is more convenient by an order of magnitude to simply glace down and see the information than to have to move the cursor over icon to get it!

Granted that you are the coder and that I may well be missing something here but this is a screen shot of what the status bar used to look like vs. now in 9.5. Note that Tweak in ini StatusBar3OnFile= is still there and looks okay.

Eureka!

Don, you explain it. While erasing the posted image of "Old vs New" happened to adjust the divider between Tree and File panes and the other data suddenly reappeared on Status Bar.

Damn peculiar behavior.

I cannot explain it. Looks like a bug. If you find a way to repro it let me now.

Fair enough, but the answer may be complex. Here is the full story of what happened. First downloaded the Installer Package of 9.5 (as usual). But when run that came up with the virgin version of XY complete with the Splash Screen of 30 days left in evaluation. Hummmm.
Deleted the folder and in its place copied the most recent backup - which experience taught the hard way to have. Then got the Portable Package and installed it manually. 9.5 was now up and running except the the problem brought up in this thread.

Am now nervous about using the Installer Package next time.

This sounds so strange that I immediately have to think of UAC. What's in your startup.ini?

I've had similar loss of status bar information dependant on the font. If I remember it is O.K. when the font is set but closing and re-opening XY the status bar information is corrupt. I thought it had been fixed but maybe it's back again, or a variation of it.
