CTRL-A(select all) works strangely.........

Post by lugosi »

I have noticed something strange about the way that CTRL-A works with XYPlorer. When I want to play all of the mp3s in a folder with Winamp, I do a select ALL (CTRL-A), right click, and click Play in Winamp. When I do this with any other file manager, Winamp plays the songs from song 1 to the last song (the filenames follow the pattern '<track#> - <song name>.mp3'). When I do the same thing in XYPlorer, the songs get played in some other order that I cannot explain. I have not found a pattern to it.....except possibly that if one of the songs was highlighted when I did the CTRL-A, that song would get played first.....still experimenting with that one.....

Does anyone know why this would be happening? Is there some strange setting that needs to be tweaked or something like that?

Thanks in advance

Jim

The order is like this (from a to e):

1 - d
2 - e
3 - a = focused item
4 - b
5 - c

Why? many years ago I found that the focused item has to be first to generate the correct context menu, and decided for this order (focus to bottom, then top to focus-minus-one). This order seems to have worked for all purposes -- no complaints until now.

What would be an solution for Jim ?

1.) press Pos1/Home-key first
2.) press Ctrl+A as second step
3.) right click on first item (No.1)
4.) and click "Play in Winamp"

I don't know if step 3) is really needed or if right clicking on e.g. file No. 7 works too.

No such steps needed. Simply right-clicking the top item of the selection should be enough.

I should add that I did not really invent this order. Explorer was my teacher.

Thank you so much for the replies, folks. I guess I can see the logic behind ordering the items as you do. I figured that this would just require a little behaviour modification on my part to make things work the way that I expected. I will give this solution a try and see what happens.

A great product! Thanks!
