1) In the folder tree, is it possible to change the little +/- square next to folders with subfolders to be white inside instead of the shaded half-gray it is at the moment? it looks more dirty than fancy on my screen.
2) In the folder tree, is it possible to disable showing the lines that indicate depth (the dotted vertical ones)?
3) When I right-click the empty space in the folder tree a menu with places comes up, the icons on that menu are all 'shady', like they were at 50% brightness or something. Is this a bug or intentional? The same goes for the Recent Locations menu from the toolbar.

1) INI-tweak: FlatPlusMinus=1 (how to tweak: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3543)Jibz wrote:1) In the folder tree, is it possible to change the little +/- square next to folders with subfolders to be white inside instead of the shaded half-gray it is at the moment? it looks more dirty than fancy on my screen.

2) menu Tools / Customize Tree / Show Lines
3) hmm, works fine here (XP + Win7/64)
Could it be that your screen color depth is not 32 bit?

Just a followup for those on older vers:admin wrote:1) INI-tweak: FlatPlusMinus=1Jibz wrote:1) In the folder tree, is it possible to change the little +/- square next to folders with subfolders to be white inside instead of the shaded half-gray it is at the moment?
As of v9.11.0011
Code: Select all
* Configuration | Colors & Styles: Downgraded "Flat plus-minus icons in tree" to tweak level.
Key: FlatPlusMinus
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Thanks for the solutions to the first two, looks a lot tidier nowadmin wrote: 1) INI-tweak: FlatPlusMinus=1 (how to tweak: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3543)

I am running in 32-bit WinXP with all the latest patches at the moment, screen depth is 32bit. Here is a screenshot where you can see how the icons in the menu are a darker color than the ones in the tree:

Only if the icons use alpha which I assume they do not. DO uses the same icons in it's menus and they are the right color there.j_c_hallgren wrote:Welll, do you think maybe the fact that the menu has a gray background to it has some effect on this? I don't believe you can expect both tree and menu to show same colors when background differs that much...at least, that's my feeling.

The way they are done (actually: have to be done) the background does play a role. Nothing can change this.Jibz wrote:Only if the icons use alpha which I assume they do not. Gives some terrible results if you don't use the default windows color theme ..

Maybe you would be better off not showing an icon if it can't be done right?

Re: A few display wishes/questions
Just for reference, here is the favorites menu from DO which somehow manages to get the icons right

I don't know if it's because it's a different type of menu or something, but the icons are the right color on the gray background (and in other color themes as well).

Ah well, that's certainly a good reason not to fix itadmin wrote: Yes, maybe. But no complaints yet (apart from yours).
But fun aside, of course it's low priority if no one else thinks it's a problem.
