Configuration Settings seem incorrect . . .

Post by Biggynuff »

Hi all,

I am still having tremendous fun with this software. It's the best thing I've ever used 8)

I've recently been looking at the 'New Items' feature and trying to set up some templates. I actually created a folder named NewItems in the application folder because there wasn't one there (silly me :oops: ). Anyway, no matter what I tried I couldn't really figure out why it didn't work and no new items were displayed

I've been searching the forums and I did find this thread: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... ini#p44760

Having looked in the XY application folder, I don't see any 'New Items' folder or 'Panes' folder etc. By checking on config -> start up and exit, and looking at the bottom of the panel I see the following;

My application folder is: C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer\

My application data folder is: C:Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\

I've followed the instructions in the post above (I'm assuming that I need to move all the data files and folders to the application folder???) and then done the restart without saving, but it just doesn't seem to do anything

I can always make my new items in the other appdata folder I guess, but I suspect it may be better to have everything in the main application folder

Any thoughts anyone? If it's not a problem to have the two seperated like this then that's fine with me :lol:

Or am I supposed to be able to move the appdata folder to the main application folder? Just concerned in case my set up is all wrong and I end up losing functionality!

My PC is Win 7 x64 by the way

Thanks for any comments

Thanks grindax,

It was just that after doing some searches regarding my initial confusion it just seemed to me that the preferred option was to have everything together in one folder. I guess it's just differences with different operating systems etc

I don't have any problems with it . . . at least I now know where all these 'missing' files and folders are that I'd seen other people discussing :P

Thank you

grindax
