Ability to view a "Find Files template" contents?

Post by j_c_hallgren »

I searched as best I could (forum software seems not condusive to matching a multi-word string, at least to me) and didn't see this before:

Is there presently in XY an easy way to quickly view what a "Find Files" template contains? Before I decide that it's ready to "run"...sort of a preview mode, if you will...
I could load it, but that clobbers my current settings....I could navigate to it and then view in Notepad, but that takes a number of clicks and loses my current path...

So...maybe...could we create something like an "Edit Template" option as part of "F-F-T" that would at least bring up the template in Notepad?
Some entries are somewhat cryptic, but the crucial ones aren't...that would allow some review of what the template does before loading...

Also, I can "Save settings as", but being able to save current settings to a default template from within the "F-F-T" panel would seem to be a simple but practical addition...this would mean I could invoke FFT, save curr, load new template, execute that, invoke FFT, load another template, exec it, and then reload state where I was before using FFT...

Yes, sounds all reasonable. Right now, I can't jump on it because of temporal limitations. Let's get back to thislater...

You can always "Restart without Saving" if you have saved what you like before.

8) Glad to know that I have some practical ideas!
 So...you're suffering from overloaded brain cells? I can relate!

Thanks for your consideration of this request! :D

This probably should have gone into Bug reports but I'll use this related thread as it's a very minor display issue: While in the "Save Settings As" panel, the second line of descriptive text is half-hidden behind the entry box...it's the "Enter descriptive name for template" line...

It's over 7 months since this post was made...does this count as later?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Definitely! In terms of time, not in terms of change. Come back in 7 months.
