Drop menu View, "Reset to Defaults..."

I found this feature under a heap of dust from the last millenium. Never used it. Away with it! Or?

Well I never used it either, but if it still does its job, it might come in handy one day.
As for now, I don't care about it.

Not wanting to mess up my current config, could the author provide more info on exactly which values are reset by this function? Maybe just a list of which INI entries, to start, given that many are easily understood...

Just backup your INI, and start playing.
In theory, the command should reset everything inside this menu section (Size Format..., ...). Why is there a reset for this section, and not one for all the other sections? No answer, and one of the reasons why I want to throw it out.

So I backed up my INI, used the reset, and then used a neat little freeware pgrm I'd found recently (ExamDiff by PresoSoft) to see how they compared...only a few lines changed...so yea, I'm not sure how valuable this function is...

Maybe a copy of INI as originally installed, but with any registration code applied, could be generated, saved, and then that be reloaded to replace current INI with this function. This theory is based on other programs that allow you to reset everything should you want to without losing any registration data.

Never even noticed it was there let alone used it!. It really contradicts my requirement for saving and reloading settings, so I can never see me using it.
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that starting XY without an ini file resets to defaults. Provided the registration information is saved then I think I would use that if I ever wanted to restore the default settings.

Incidentally, ExamDiff (I use the Pro version) is excellent.

I just tried running XY with my INI file renamed...and it created a new one...so now if there was a good way to save registration data...given that an email can get misplaced/deleted...not sure what would be best way...

Is there really a demand for resetting everything to defaults apart from the registration information? Why would you want to do this?

BTW: The version I'll upload tonight has some changes concerning this: from now on, the registration information will be centrally stored only in XYplorer.ini, not in any of the custom INIs. I'm thinking about centralizing more data, e.g. favorites...

I'll definitely agree that resetting to defaults would be a very rare and unusual thing to do...and I doubt I'd ever find a reason to want to do so...and given that the option that caused this thread is now gone....the end!
