How do I share configuration data between computers?

Post by blockrocker »

Hi!

I'm a fresh owner of XYplorer Pro and it seems like an answer for my dreams. :)

I have one question bugging me though: Because I use 4 different computers in my work, I would like to have a simple way to share the configuration data between them so that I don't have redo stuff 4 times (on each machine).

After reading these forums I first tried copying the whole XYplorer application folder from my main computer to another computer with XYplorer also installed. However, the settings remained unchanged on the second computer. Which led me to think that maybe the configuration data is NOT in the application folder but somewhere else? I think I found the correct ini-file in the Roaming -folder of my computer and tried to copy it to the second computers corresponding folder. But still the settings remain the factory defaults on my secondary machine.

So here's the question again: Is there a quick and easy way to share all the XYplorer data between multiple computers?

Any help will be appreciated!

I'm using windows wista and windows 7 machines both 32bit and 64bit.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome!

The places (paths) to copy your config from and to you,ll get from Help menu item 'Various information' bottom lines.

EDIT: Easiest organizing of same config on different machines with recent OSes using UAC is to have your XYplorer installations outside of Program Files folder for instance C:\Xyplorer

Use menu File / Settings / Backup All Settings... to copy the whole settings from the current app data folder to another folder.
