Thank you Thread!

Post by carmenm »

Hi,

I haven't been on the forum for quite sometime. Though i am been using XY like every 5min every single day!
And today i felt like going back to the forum and see what i missed.
I keep updating to betas everyday but dont always have the time to test new features.
And i just fell for aliases!

So time for a BIG BIG thank to Don for everything he has done so far. I It appears i have been using XY for 4 years now! I just dont see myself using anything else. I even miss it every day on OSX.

I think we should have sort of a screenshot thread where people would show what they achieve with XY. It would allow other users to improve their experience with XY and it might even be used to show XY's powers to the world.

THanks Thanks Thanks

Hi, I'd like to add to the praise.
It took me less than 30 minutes to move from the trial version to a lifetime license.

The ability to add scripts (macro's) to your file manager is absolutely brilliant! It adds one-mouseclick functionality and saves me tons of time.

I review a lot of files (docs) in 100's of corresponding directories. Now I can mark the files with colors (tags) for 'In-Progess', 'Done', 'Interesting'. And the directories as 'Done' or 'In Progress' or 'Interesting files within'. For that I use little macros that choose a different icon out of shell32.dll (folder-with-checkmark, search-icon and star resp.). Previously I couldn't do any file-tagging other than moving files to subdirectories. But that screws up your backups. I did directory tagging before (rightclick/properties/tab-customize-buttonChangeIcon/browse to the new icon...).Now its one mouse-click.

The color tags can be lost when they are copied outside of your own system. This is due to my OS limitations (XP64). The directory ratings WILL be kept even as you backup to a USB-disc and reload in a system with just a win Explorer.

If anybody is interested I can post my (simple) scripts - as I had trouble finding them on the forum. These are the icons I have added to the menu-bar.

Thanks a lot!
