A better way to preview images

Post by Riki »

I was thinking it would be a great feature to be able to preview an image by middle clicking it or something of that sort. I never have the info panel open and its a pain to remember and open it just to preview a few images.

Or perhaps there is a way to already do this?

I'm currently designing this... it will be part of MDBU 2.0. :)

There are two buttons you can add to the Toolbar: Preview and Full Screen Preview (right-click the Toolbar > Customize); alternatively, you can press F11.

admin - Thanks! What does MDBU stand for? :p

nas8e9 - The fullscreen button is neat, but it still requires a separate disconnected step.

Another interesting way to do this may be to have a hotkey that can be pressed and while that key is held down you can simply select various files and the preview will popup. However a simple middle click = preview would be very fast and intuitive too.

The "Mouse Down Blow Up" feature (also known as MDBU) is named thus
because when one holds the mouse down (in the correct location), the related image is enlarged, or blown up

MDBU=Mouse Down Blow Up.
Try left or right clicking on the thumbs.

And like nas8e9 mentioned as hotkey for fullscreen use F11 (or change it to your liking).

oh right, that is very cool. I guess the only suggestion would be to do this in details view mode also. :)

Great work!

Now THAT would be very cool -- not having to be on the preview tab, but being able to click and hold on the icon and have it show a preview like the normal MDBU...

+1 for this!

Yes, yes, it's already done in my head -- if it weren't for error 10 you'd already have it...

This and other features could be handled nicely with full mouse event customization added to XYplorer in which you could fully customize what happens when a mouse button (with optional modifier key) is pressed on a tab vs a folder vs a file name vs a thumbnail etc.
