Selected folder won't allow drop

Post by vyzer »

Hi All,

running version 9.00.0202

It seems that when I have a folder selected, it won't allow me to drop a file into it - either from within xy or from an external program.

I'm assuming this is a new phenomenon, as I just noticed it after I upgraded to this version (previous version was 9.00.0010) and I have an unconscious habit of selecting a folder in a long list of folders to highlight it & make it easy to locate - then proceed to drop folders from another window or the desktop - often another program - into it.

It's an easy enough work around by simply selecting/highlighting the folder above or below it but it is a bit counter-intuitive to me. Is this a bug or a new feature?? If it's a feature - is there a way to turn it off??

Thanks!!

Just to be clear, I guess this is what you are doing:
1) Select a folder in Tab A
2) Drag a file/folder from Tab B or from Windows explorer.
3) Drop it over the selected folder.

If thats right, then i cannot reproduce it.
Could you reproduce this on a fresh XY install? (unzip Portable Package of XY into a new folder).
btw, your OS?

Just downloaded the current portable beta version and gave it a whirl. Same problem.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit

I'm running two monitors.

I open a copy of xy on each monitor.

On monitor B - I have a list of my folders.

On monitor A - I have files needing to be put into folders.

I look over the list of folders on Monitor B and find the one I want. I click on it to just highlight it - not open it.

I return to monitor A and find files I want to drop into the highlighted folder on Monitor B.

When I drag the files over to monitor B and hover over the highlighted folder, I get the circle with the slash through it and cannot drop the files into the folder. I can drop the files into any other folder but not whichever one I highlight (select).

If I actually open the folder on Monitor B - there's no problem dragging files over to it.

This happens with two instances of xy, within one instance of xy using dual panes or with xy and another program such as windows explorer or ACDSee.

Hope that helps!

Thanks again

Oh - I should add that it's in the list view on Monitor B - not in the tree panel. It works fine in the tree.

Usually I have a folder open in the tree on Monitor B and a ton of subfolders in the list panel. It's one of these subfolders that I'm trying to drop the files into.

Cannot reproduce it -- but I have only one monitor. You say the problem only happens with 2 monitors? What if you drag from monitor B to A. The same?

Oh yes! i could reproduce this at my work's dual screen. I had two instances of XY and dragged a file from screen#2 onto a focused or focused+selected folder on screen#1 and it did not allow me to drop. If i have a folder selected but not focused then i can drop fine.

Oh, it doesnt have to be from screen#2 to screen#1 at all. I have 2 instances of XY open on the same screen and still can reproduce this.

I can reproduce this with a single instance of XYplorer with dual panes. When selecting a folder in the left pane in the file list rather than the tree, selecting the second pane and dragging a folder from the second pane to the selected folder in the left pane isn't allowed.

XYplorer 9.00.0204 / Windows 7 x64 RTM.

Hmm not here. Dragging from one pane to another is not a problem.

Wow, now I can repro it. The fix is near... :)
