I do like that color best but not sure how well it looks in 16x16, as someone else siad the white on orange in old style works good but in this smaller one, could be an issue...so thus : have you tried another color for the XY on this orange? Like the forum blue?
White is the best contrast you can get over orange, that is when you go to the direction "lighter". One must keep in mind that it has to work in black and white as well for color-blind and other vision handicapped users.
When you mean darker blue, I did not try that but I'm almost sure it would not look good.

Generally: I won't find a color that pleases everybody, so I think the current choices are quite good (and you can even go back to the old icon via the tweak). I would like to close the icon discussion now. :)

O.K., an last suggestion:

i like the "old" [XY] icon, so *i* would just add this in an few different colors to the EXE resource ,
so everybody could pick the color which fits best in the environment of icons from other apps.
As additional to your new masterpiece, of course :D

Just for brainstorming:

I like the green so far, actually i am also tired of orange. The icon looks good everywhere, though the color is quite close to AHK app.

No jokes about my eyes :mrgreen:

I have some more
$stock = "ABCDEF0123456789"; $out = ""; $len = 0;
    while ($len<6){$rand = rand(1,16);$sign = substr($stock, $rand, 1);$out=$out$sign; incr $len;}
    msg color="#$out";
:lol:

My idea is not to use really *that* colors, but to add some different colored icon resources.

I apologize, but this icon making is becoming a habit... Note that this is not a (security) shield, but I road sign (Route 66...):

It may look kinda neat in one way with the Y leg but that backwards "y" just really bothers me and looks kinds weird...makes me think it's YX on a reversed icon....how does a conventional Y look tied to the X?

And the road sign thing is nice! Like that better then the guitar pick.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Oh! if you are open for suggestions, then let me ask for ACDC styled font. :wink:

Again I must say that the "backward leg" is what makes it interesting (to me). A strong logo always has to break some rule, hasn't it?

Of course I saw the connection and I liked it. ACDC is certainly one of the last strongholds of humanity on this planet.

ACDC aside, why do I think of Tomato Ketchup when I see that last icon? :?

I don't think we need to make it look like it was created by a 4-5 year old who still writes some letters backwards. :mrgreen: (sorry)

Some of the logos I like best are rather plain yet they tell me exactly which pgm/appl it is...I have a clipboard manager that uses a regular paperclip as icon...perfectly simple yet effective.

Maybe because tomato guys use red/yellow combo often. That apart, i like the backward Y and the style a lot. Not sure if the route symbol is fine. Maybe keep the style change the shape?
I know its hard to make these things, but its worth it as it could be around for next decade.

For us in USA, it could be mixed with marketing to "your route to better FM" or similar..."drive yourself to better drive management"..etc
