Preview problems

Hi,
I'm a newbie as far as this type of support mechanism is concerned so pls bear with me. I am currently evaluating 8.9 of what is turning out to be a great product but I am really struggling with the preview function. By way of history, I have installed on my home PC first.

Specs - Home
XP SP3, Office 2007 Academic - Word / Excel / Powerpoint / OneNote , Outlook 2007, Visio 2003, MS Project 2003, various audio / video tools.

After working through the forums, I have addressed the ZIP and Browserflags issues so that all previews are being displayed in the preview pane. However, I have the following problems

• 1. Word 2003 (and earlier), Project 2003 and Visio 2003 documents preview in edit mode
  2. Word 2007 / Excel 2007 files preview in edit mode
  3. Excel 2003 (and earlier) will preview when XY is first opened only. Afterwards (previewed something else) when single clicking on the file the preview flashes up and either
  • a. a dialog jumps in asking if I want to save changes. I assume it has also previewed the file in edit mode at some stage
    b. message on preview panel says "Office file is currently opened by another application
  4. Outlook 2007 msg files do not preview - single clicking brings up my download manager (FDM). If I say Ok, the file downloads to my Download directory. If I cancel, the message opens in Outlook.

Then I installed it on the work laptop and I get quite different behaviours.

Work laptop
XP SP3, Office Pro 2003, Visio 2003, Project 2007. Also all Browserflags set as per FAQ.

• 1. Word 2003 previews in edit mode with only the Reviewing toolbar showing. This is not a default toolbar in Normal.dot. Changing files brings up a "Do you want to save" dialog whether or not I touch the previewed file.
  2. Occasionally Word also opens but with no document showing. This seems to be connected to documents which have embedded review comments
  2. Excel 2003 will preview when XY is first opened only. Afterwards (previewed something else) when single clicking on the file the preview flashes up and message on preview panel says "Office file is currently opened by another application
  3. Project 2003 display a "cannot decode" message even though options are set to display legacy formats
  4. Visio 2003 documents preview "created by shell" in a reduced format and are flagged "XY Trial version"
  5. Outlook 2003 msg files do not preview - single clicking brings up Outlook in edit mode

Also I find the instructions on accessing web folders difficult to follow. Many files that I would like to work with are in Sharepoint 2003. WinExp does not appear to have any problems. Web folders are placed under My Network Places. XY can see my network but not the web folders.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure your other users are not experiencing these sort of problems.

Conc. Office 2003, I hope somebody can help you. Better Office support is planned for a later version.
Conc. web folders: not supported at the moment.
