Post by arirish »

Is it possible to have an option to 'open in a new tab' when right-clicking on a folder? I just realised I can do this with a shift + double click on the folder, but I find the right-click function more intuitive (since it'd match how I use firefox!). It's always possible I'm an extreme minority there, though.

If I understand you correctly, you want a right-click on a folder to immediately open a new tab with that folder displayed? That would mean losing the context menu for folder items, which seems rather limiting. As you probably found out, it's a two-click affair at the moment: XYplorer's context menu for folder items has a Open in New Tab-item at the top; alternatively, the current shortcut assigned to the Open in New Tab item is pressing Shift + a single click on a folder item to open the folder in a new tab.

The only customizable mouse shortcut I could find, is in Configuration > Tabs > On dbl-click; this way, you could set the double-click action *on a tab* to open a new tab, but that's rather far away from what you're asking. Other than this, it doesn't seem possible to customize mouse actions.

I'm not entirely sure what's missing in XYplorer's tab handling compared to Firefox (do you use the Tab Mix Plus-extension to customize this in Firefox or something)? Regardless, I'm personally quite happy with XYplorer's current tab handling for folder items.

Ah, sorry, I wasn't clear enough - I'd like an entry in the context menu for 'open in new tab', not for that to replace the context menu.

Really? Is that a fairly recent development? I'm using 8.80.300, and neither of those things are true for me. Top of the folder context is 'To Clipboard>', and Shift+single click does nothing at all. Which version are you using? I'd wonder if I've overlooked a setting...

You're right, I do indeed use Tab Mix Plus. I am also, mostly, absolutely sated with XYplorer's handling, I've just realised after using it for a while, in conjunction with my TMP'd Firefox, that I rather miss this one action.

I'm using 8.80.0321 beta, but the difference is Tree vs. File List. Folder items in the Tree have the options I described, but folder items in the File List don't.

Oh yes! The tree has exactly what I want! Only I'd like to see those same options in the List. Thanks for pointing that out though, it may be a serviceable alternative for the time being.
