-considering that XY scripting may NOT work on X or Y (sorry, can't refuse doing that!) flavors but CAN have a msg box/code check:
...why not let users decide which (safer, portable, like me!) navigator to use along with XY?
From another (Disk Manager, a great ongoing project that shows the power of XY scripting on top of HTML) thread:
I was a great fan of Opera 'til the waves changed in user's favor when Firefox expanded its paths through the means of extensions - same reason why I am choosing XYplorer as my default explorer replacement (being scripting the equivalent). I still use Opera one day or another for specific reasons, or even prior Firefox/Mozilla incarnations....It won't work in Firefox because its an IE specific code and I used it because XY uses IE in its HTML. But you should have seen the gradients in IE unless yours is older than IE 5.5.
Not that XY scripters should make their mini apps widely compatible, but at least Firefox could be allowed to use as a valid IE natural replacement for the majority of users. Also, I suggest something like Aptana as a way to check HTML code compatibilty - may turn things easier if we intend to have a wider audience, I hope.
