Your ::alpha 4; values cannot be explained (they should be identical to alpha 0/1/2). Do you do voodoo in your free time?
Next version will remove the alpha command completely...

If you look at my last post on this page you'll notice mine are proportionally similar to his, so I seem to be doing voodoo too

Can you repeat this with v8.80.0038? Probably only right after doing alpha 3. Then the GDI bug is more complex than I thought and has to do with some sort of caching.

Again voodoo. Something weird is going on here. ::alpha 4 was never coded by me. It just falls into alpha 0. It should be identical.

That's better. Only alpha 3 should be fast, all others the same slow.

WinXP PC:
Alpha 0-2 and from 4 upwards are like the 0-2 in my last post (usually around 120 ms, sometimes at ~25 ms)
Alpha 3 is noticeably faster with (mostly) 6,8 to 7,6 ms.

Win7 Laptop:
Alpha 0-2 and 4+: somewhere around 9,5 to 10 seconds
Alpha 3 also noticeably faster: 4,7 to 4,9 ms.

Note that the much slower laptop is now about 30% faster as the (in comparison) powerful main PC! Thanks to Win7 or what happened?

So yea, everything above 3 seems to default to 0 (or 1, or 2 ) now (as it apparently should have in the first place). So good news, not more complex than expected

However scrolling the Tools -> Customize Toolbar tree is still very laggy compared to 0028 which was instantaneous.

This will stay like this I'm afraid. It will probably go away with the next GdiPlus update by MS.

Question: Does the same go for the Action Log? Customize TB I don't really care, as I obviously don't do that any often, but when trying to use the AL its extreme slowness becomes somewhat irritating very rapidly...

I'm asking also because AL and LM seem to be the same control (same kind of list I mean, at least from the look of it) and I don't see such problem with LM, even when there are colors & icons involved (Highlighted Folders, History, Boxed Branches, etc)

It's the icons used in AL. I currently use GDI to draw them, but I will change it to my own methods just to make Win7 work.
