Add a "play"/"stop" button to sound prev

Post by j_c_hallgren »

Ran into this slightly quirky way that XY handles it..

I personally would like to be able to wait until I'm ready to play the file.
The auto-play can be a issue sometimes...when one wants to be basically silent/quiet but still have speakers on for a beep or two..

What is the opinion of other users & admin?

Having a "play" and "stop" button would be more typical of any media player...the very first time I encountered this tab, it started playing a song and I couldn't easily see how to stop it... :? Now I know, but still...

Well.. you can go in Configuration/Preview to enable/disable the auto-play ;)

About the button, I personnaly like how XY handles it; and it uses Space as a keyboard shortcut for the play/pause action which is a very common thing amongst media player :)

Ok  newbie syndrome...I'll admit...I hadn't noticed that option..

However, my wish to add a play/stop button still stands...I'm not saying to change the way the space bar works...just provide another more visible way to do it for a new user...you can't SEE the space bar, true?

On the screen as a button or option, you can't SEE the space bar!

why?? whats wrong with the normal click on the black progress bar to pause/resume and right click to seek it?? i like it the way it is.. and one can just include it in help if it is not mentioned. Also, the purpose is only to preview the audio and trying to make it look like media player in my opinion is not a good idea.

I never said to eliminate or change the existing way...just to add either a button OR todays revised thought...: another way that would work just as well:

Add play/stop options to the dropdown "Copy" orange button when on a music type file...that's where i looked when it started playing (the first time using it, and had yet to look thru ALL the config opts for auto-play) and I didn't see any stop button....I finally just did Alt+F4 to kill it. Not a good introduction to the product.

How about that idea?

:D :D 8) Another GREAT implementation as usual! It's those little things that can cause a first timer to become irritated/frustrated and give up on a product...and it was done without any new buttons, but will still provide a easy way for anyone to click desired action, and newbies to find keyboard shortcut.
