Can the white background color of the panes be changed?

Can the white background color of the panes be changed to a custom color [such as black or dark gray]? I prefer dark interfaces.

Actually, one can totally change the color of the panes. Each pane is nothing but a List, and you can set the colors used on List (as well as Tree, and Tabs if you're on "XY Classic" Visual Style) on Configuration - Interface Colors.

Ah, my bad

I misread the question. The colour can be changed to another colour, but not to a custom image.

Yes. It's in the same section of 'Configuration'.
