Auto magnify is great but gets in the way of drag and drop

Dont get me wrong I like this feature but
If i click on a thumbnail of a picture in the right pane it enlarges to fill the screen, is there a simple way to temporary switch this behaviour off? something like alt then left clicking on the picture to enable me to drag and drop it onto a folder in the folder tree on the left. At the moment I am not able to drag the picture as it just enlarges. I would like a quick and very temporary switch off , I mean I wouldnt want to go and alter something in preferences every time.

thinking about it further It would be good if you got a little popup that informed you "if you just want to drag and drop..."
