When reporting a bug, please include the following information: your XYplorer version (e.g., v27.90.0047), your Windows version (e.g., Win 11), and your screen scaling percentage (e.g., 125%). We recommend adding your Windows version and screen scaling percentage to your profile or signature. This will make debugging much easier for us.

Just tried it to copy a few thousand files on my Win 7 32-bit and XY froze. In addition, it also caused the program (ObjectDock+) that I use as my taskbar replacement to freeze so I couldn't switch between open programs while I wait for the copy to finish. Alt+Tab stopped working also. This is really annoying and I mean really, grrr!

Obviously a Win 7 bug.

Anyway, I'll update to Win 7 myself soon, so any issues will be addressed.

Just like it was a Vista SP1 bug too?

Would you please be so kind as to define the meaning of "soon" in your sentence? This issue has existed for over a year, it is annoying and I hope those of us eager for it to be fixed won't be bashed for our perceived impatience :)

I am not necessarily saying that. I know what the behaviour is, but I don't know what the bug is. What I do know is that this behaviour seems to have started after installation of Vista SP1 (and is present in Win 7 RTM). This may lead to one pointing the finger of blame at Microsoft. However, other file managers that I tried did not exhibit this behaviour, which casts a shadow of doubt upon the previous allegation. Make of that what you will.

You said "Alt+Tab stopped working also." That's an OS function that should not be breakable by even the most evil software. But maybe in your case ObjectDock+ is the culprit.

Conc. the topic of this thread. Please stop begging. It's on the roadmap and that's it. Begging will get you nowhere.

Confirmed that it's the OD+ that's causing the problem with Alt+Tab. I'll take it up with its devs. However, it's the freeze in XY that starts the chain of events.

It makes me feel a bit upset to read you brushing off this issue like that. I've experienced this issue all the way through 7.x cycle and so far up to 8.2, so please try to step into my shoes and get a taste of the frustration that I've had. You may think of this as begging, but it's simply a result of feeling desperate. I'll continue to bite the bullet... :(

Probably "whining" is the correct term in English. Anyway, stop it. (Last warning)

Pulling this topic up...

Since Windows 7 is out now, are there any developments on this issue?

This problem definitely needs bumping up!!!
I was seriously considering switching to XY but I immediately noticed the program hanging up when a disk operation was in place: Windows 7 64bit

1. WHEN COPYING LARGE FILE
2. WHEN CREATING THUMBNAILS (especially painful when waiting for thumbnails for my camera video files.)

1+2 = total deal breaker

I absolutely cannot do anything else except to wait for the operation to be over. Cannot change a folder, cannot move to a different tab. Nothing.

Other than that it is a STELLAR!!! program and it is the best of them all TC or Xplorer2.

Please make this a priority

Hi,

1. On my list.
2. Difficult. The current version only computes the thumbnails for the currently visible part of the list. If this is still too slow I don't know what to do.
Are you using the disk cache for thumbnails? Do it, then you have to wait only once.

Hi and Welcome!
1) The problem with app freezing while copying is definitely an issue and like Admin (aka Don) said its on his list. He meant this list:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=830
Meanwhile in the script exchange section you will find some scripts which integrate 3rd party copiers such as Teracopy and Fastcopy (which are also portable) into XY. This might be of interest to you since you mentioned LARGE files. These apps allow much more flexibility (like queuing, skipping files etc) compared to windows' copy method.

2) Question regarding slow thumbs, have you enabled "super-fast thumbnails" from menu "Tools | Configuration | Thumbnails"?

Happy XYploring! :)
