1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Toolbar problem

Post by TekNoir »

I just discovered this replacement for Windows explorer and have been thoroughly impressed thus far. However, I am having a problem with the toolbar. I am using the 2nd of December beta. I also noticed this problem in the 27th of November "official" download as well as the 30th of November beta. I have a "home" license for now.

The problem is that the program toolbar, upon opening, always defaults to the pre-set first-installed state. This is despite the fact that the XYplorer.ini correctly states that it saved my desired configuration upon shutdown.

I can modify the toolbar and then shut down the program. I can use Windows explorer to browse to the XYplorer directory and open the .ini in a text reader. It correctly reports my changes to the right of the Toolbar= line.

Upon reopening the program, it shows the default toolbar. I can browse to the XYplorer directory (in XYplorer itself) and open the XYplorer.ini in a text reader. It, once again, still correctly reports the changes that I had previously made, despite not reflecting that fact in the toolbar of the program itself.

After closing the program one last time, another reading of the .ini file reflects that the settings have went back to the default as well --

Toolbar=back,fore,up,cut,copy,paste,del,home

Though any changes seem to be persistent so far as the initialization file is concerned, the program doesn't seem to read in this setting correctly upon being closed down and restarted.

Thank you for your time and for the wonderful program...

Uhmmm, haven't you seen the yellow text box in the toolbar configuration window? Maybe I have to make it blink...

Actually, I had (somehow) managed to have overlook the yellow text box. Thank you for pointing it out. Paid version feature only...

Should not "paid version only" features be pointed out on the website as well? Have I overlooked them there? (It wouldn't surprise me if I have.) What, and how many, other features are "paid version only?"

Not only that, but some of the statements that you make are very misleading to those who are new to or are wanting to purchase this program. An example being (pasted directly from the most current help file under the heading of Registration) --

"XYplorer is not freeware: You have the choice between the home license or the professional license. Both of these licenses provide you with all features, without any restrictions or time limits."

Isn't it misleading to state that both versions are uncrippled and have all features?

This is the only "paid version only feature", and it's there since 2 weeks only. And it's only 2 days younger than the feature itself (the possibility to customize the toolbar). So I reasoned: I did not take anything away from the earlier home license versions, but just added a little bit to the professional license version. In fact I'm adding features to both licenses almost daily.

But anyway, you are right that the web site needs to be updated. Actually both sites, TrackerV3 and XYplorer...

EDIT: done!
