OT: XY script icons

Post by Muroph »

i was tired of seeing the "default file" icon for all xys, so i decided to give them some cool icons. 8)

here's a preview:

the attached file contains both ICO and PNG formats.

WOW, I can't believe it! :D 8) Very cool.

Actually I plan to open up the toolbar for custom icons in one of the next versions. Throw some ICO files into a Toolbar\ folder and XY will suck them in at startup -- also in bigger size than 16 pixels...

Muroph, you got the job for the official icon set... :)

Wow Muroph - those are fantastic!

Certainly looks much better than the simple one I quickly did long ago:

That was using the first of the four, right? I think any of the others look a bit better, esp the ones that have some code on them, like #3/4.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

At 16 pixels it does not matter so much so I took the purest one.

wow, i didn't expect such a good reaction. :!: :D
especially since i've only made 2 or 3 icons before these.

i uploaded a new version.
the XYS logo was too small in the 16px icon, so i made it a bit bigger for that size.
i also removed some of the icons that were too similar.
now the pack only contains the icons in the preview image (and their PNGs).

@Don: which font is used in the XY logo/icon?
i used Impact, and it looks good enough, but i'm a perfectionist. :)

there's a small difference: the ones with code look a bit darker (i use #4).

------------
i think i spotted a bug while repacking the 16px icons.
after i saved them, the list still displayed the old icons.
i clicked "refresh list icons" and the list updated to the new icons.
then i went to a diff. folder and, when i came back, the old icons were on the list again.

maybe the updated icon cache is not being saved. :?

1. hehe, no problem, I'll send you the font (Helvetica Inserat Roman).

2. Sigh, I think I can simply remove the whole command. In my impression it never really worked. It seems that Windows caches the icons per thread, and I don't find a way to update that cache (apart from restarting the app).

already got it. 8)

there's a new version, now using the official font.
i moved the images a bit to the left to fix some cropped shadows.
the new pack also includes the icons with a bigger logo, since they were created in the batch.

These are very shiny icons, but to shiny for me.
I created a simpler icon in the past:
xy-script.png
You can download the ico-file here:
xy-script.ico.zip
//edit: I changed the zip-compression from "Ultra" to "Store" because some zip-applications cannot decompress the previous file. (Downloaded 6 time before the change)

Not bad either!

But: Using WinZip 8.1 I cannot extract the archive. Did you use a very hip compression method?
