Create shortcut

Post by daddyman »

This request may be strange but I find myself quite often creating shortcut's in various folders and it would be a nice feature to have:
(in context menu)
"Send To > Create Shortcut (Browse)" where you could browse to the folder you want to put the shortcut in.
Or perhaps the ability to add your own Create Shortcuts to the context menu.
i.e.
"Send To > Create Shortcut MyDocuments
Create Shortcut Utilities" etc.

Thanks for your consideration.

Yes, an option where to place the shortcut sounds good. It's easy with dual pane - it defaults to creating the shortcut in the other pane!!

If I read this request correctly, this could prove quite useful, as presently, when I create a shortcut, my options for location destination of it are either the current folder (which makes little sense, as the object(?) is there also) or Desktop (which is not likely the place I want it!) so being able to define on-the-fly where to create it would help...I currently almost always create it and then move it to desired folder which is extra effort..

And yes, with DP, it would be easy to have the two folders to be used (object & destination) available for creation, but without that, this would handle it, I suspect.

There's "Create Shortcut(s) Here" in the drag+drop context menu. What more could you wish?

 Maybe for a way to do so using more just keyboard? As I so rarely d&d that I don't ever think of using right click to do it, and use context menu key or simple right-click on item to create shortcuts...just as you've gotten into trouble with auto-save, I've had same with d&d too many times, so now I limit my usage of it to only when absolutely needed...

"Create Shortcut Here" is great. I did not realize that this option existed.

Thank you for the enlightenment!
