Wouldn't it be nice if when reorganizing the toolbar the list of Available Buttons displayed in alphabetical order.
Also, there have been times when using the Preview it would have been handy to have Info Panel on/off on a per tab basis.

Re: Wouldn't it be nice if ...
I have been wanting to ask about the toolbar list arrangement logic, but it slipped to back of my mind.
Regarding info panel per tab basis, I too have encountered the preview shooting up when i switch tabs because some file was selected. One way would be to simply disable preview on tab switch. One can use ctrl+Q to enable it.

Way back somewhere, I recall asking for this same thing...I occasionally have one tab where I'm wanting to see mostly just the list, while on another tab, I want to see a decent sized preview...so switching between the two, I need to keep turning IP on/off.serendipity wrote:Regarding info panel per tab basis, I too have encountered the preview shooting up when i switch tabs because some file was selected.
I also suspect this might help avoid unintentional "file-in-use" issues where one has preview active on one tab as desired, but then switching to another tab, a file gets selected and opened that isn't desired just because IP is active, and by doing so, can affect other apps/tasks running.

In the next version the NoPropertiesStartup tweak will also suppress properties/preview on tab change.

I don't recall the prior discussion and don't want to take time to locate it as it was some time ago, but personally, I'd ideally like ability to select by some method if all these following settings apply globally or at tab level:
Show nav panel
Wide IP
IP size (max/min/last)
Show IP
Similar to FVS but stored for that tab...with any new tab taking the settings of the active tab at the time of new tab creation.
Not sure how your planned tweak ties into that...

I think Don is simply offering a workaround for folks who dont want preview on tab change, which suffices my problem to a large extent. Regarding different IP states for different tabs, I remember Don saying no to it sometime back.j_c_hallgren wrote:I don't recall the prior discussion and don't want to take time to locate it as it was some time ago, but personally, I'd ideally like ability to select by some method if all these following settings apply globally or at tab level:

Personally, with so many key options for IP, i dont see myself using it.

Can't blame me for trying, right?admin wrote:Don still says: no.
Could you extremely briefly recap why not? As, IMHO, this wouldn't be that much different from other tab related settings, such as column widths, ok? Yes, the NP/IP is a global feature but optionally making the view settings of NP/IP at tab level seems to be a somewhat logical resquest also.
