filter(hide) folder names, tree view

Post by noir »

I like being able to see system files, but some folders in vista just annoy my like documents and settings , boot , $recyclebin..etc i can check to hide system folders and files but this also hides system files, so not knowing any other way i would like to hide or filter these folders out so i can still keep system files viewable.

i found a filter function already implimented in XY but they dont effect the tree side, and they don't auto enable on starting XY

Currently, when I mask hidden files/folders in File List by View/Show Items/Show Hidden Files and Folders, the hidden folders are also masked in Tree List.
For example here, under XP, in root of C:, folders Recycler and System Volume Information have the "H" attrib. When I mask hidden F/F, those two folders don't appear in Tree List.
Is it not enough for you ?

Yet, I find your request interesting. Sometimes I'd like to be able to mask some folders which have not the "H" attrib.
Now we have tags. There is already the possibility to mark by tag any undesirable folder, and later (?) we would be able to apply visual filter to File List according to tags. Anyway, I hope it will be possible. It might be possible also to filter on the Tree List.
Don, can we hope that ?

Not exactly what is planned with Tags. Tags will rather be exploited as (virtual) locations, which then can be listed or searched.

However, generally it would also be possible to use Tags for filtering. So, maybe... :)
