Strange icon overlay issue
Not sure if it's bug, the hand icon overlay on shared folder won't go away after I unchecked "show icon overlays" in config, I even disabled it in the registry. shared folder icon looks just like unshared ones in explorer, maybe xyp is showing the catched icon from somewhere?

Re: Strange icon overlay issue
Did you try refreshing? menu "View>Caches>Refresh List Icons Cache" and maybe try restarting XY.

Re: Strange icon overlay issue
tried all refresh options , restarted xyp and xp several times, still no dice. I can see the hand overlay is removed in explorer, also, I can change folder icons within xyp and it will refresh fine but that hand overlay just won't quit. any other idea?serendipity wrote:Did you try refreshing? menu "View>Caches>Refresh List Icons Cache" and maybe try restarting XY.

Re: Strange icon overlay issue
I read your post again. Question: Is the sharing for this folder still ON? If yes, then i guess you cannot remove that by unchecking "show icon overlays". I guess the overlays in this case is for third party ones like Tortoise SVN etc. I dont know a way to remove the window's hand overlay for shared folder using XY.jsc572 wrote:tried all refresh options , restarted xyp and xp several times, still no dice. But you can try this registry tweak:
goto below path in registry and set the sharing handler default to "-" instead of "ntshrui.dll".
Registry Path: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Network\SharingHandler]@=-
Tip: If you are not a big fan of any icons you can turn them off from XY's config>advanced. Check "Use generic icons for super-fast browsing".

Re: Strange icon overlay issue
I already hacked registry, that's way when I checked folders with explorer, I don't see the overlay hand. but you are right about the folders still being shared, I just want the icon for shared folders in xyp to look just like normal folder.serendipity wrote: But you can try this registry tweak:

I think this is a typical one-person-only wish...jsc572 wrote:I already hacked registry, that's way when I checked folders with explorer, I don't see the overlay hand. but you are right about the folders still being shared, I just want the icon for shared folders in xyp to look just like normal folder.serendipity wrote: But you can try this registry tweak:

EDIT: Well, I never liked the hand symbols either, and it also makes browsing a (tiny unnotable) bit faster, so I added a tweak to hide them.
