Search In Only 3 Folders On My Hard Drive?

Post by frew »

Hello,

How can I have TV4 search in only 3 chosen folders scattered about on my hard drive?

These three folders are in various places on my hard drive.

For example, I want to create a find template that will tell TV4 to search for all wav files in only these three folders:

C:\Windows\Desktop\Wav1

C:\Program Files\Audacity\WavRecent3

C:\WavMain\Recent\Extracts1

Thank you,

Frew

Separate the locations inside the location field with " | " (blank pipe blank).

Oh very nice, thank you.

Do you have any tricks for getting say 5 folders paths into the location field quickly?

What do you do, one by one find the desired folders in the tree structure, then right click and copy paths one by one, then paste one by one into location field after putting in a pipe to separate the paths?

Is that the best way? This method seems to work very well, but I was wondering if there is a faster trick you use for this?

Thank you very much,

Frew

In fact I wish there would be a better method. Your way works, but it's tedious, and risky since currently TV3 always synchs the location field with the tree position, so you easily lose your multi-location data.

I'm open for ideas.

That's why I think it's essential in this type of operation to only right click in the tree structure, not left click. Right click, then select copy path.

Another little trick I use, in order to have TV4 search only in certain folders, is to put into a special created folder only shortcuts to the folders I wish to have TV4 search in.

Then search this folder of shortcuts making sure the "follow folder links" option is checked.

Thank you,

Oh yes, very nice! Finally the time has come, when my users teach me lessons about my own program... :D
