Date based filtering

Post by kartal »

Hi

I am thinking that having a date based visual filter would be really good. For example I would like to set a filter that would show me files or fodlers that has changed today or created today. We should be able to give a time range as well rather than only one day range.

thanks

So the Find Files by these criteria isn't sufficient? :?
It has been for me...and...that was the feature that led me to XY in the first place! 8)
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Well do not you think that I can actually use explorer find files for that purpose as well as long as if only thing I can use is a search function? I am looking for a more convenient in which I do not need to change or deal with any kind interface. At the moment because of the way I use xyplorer, I need to click (invoke) to achieve your suggestion

1 shortcut (search)
3 clicks(or more depends on the folder and need)

I never have the bottom panel open, I only call it when I need it(search, preview etc). So having it open constantly so that I can access to search quickly is nto an option for me because bottom panel just takes too much space for what it is,

Same question as JC, plus you can load your own search since its scriptable, look at the first example here.

You had also said time based search, and Win Expl does not do that..plus I was somewhat sure there was a scriptable solution, but I didn't have the time/recall when I posted before to locate it so thanks much to serendipity for the pointer.

Ok...I have the IP showing maybe 98% of the time, and in many cases, have it maximized to provide the largest preview possible...I find it so useful so only hide it on rare occasion.

I must admit that I sometimes wish I had a Visual Filter based on date. But that wish always goes away when I start thinking about the syntax... it's just to clumsy. Instead, Search Templates are a good way.

Explorer can search based on modif and creation time(under settings), I am not sure if you are referring to something else.

As I said bottom panel is not something I have open constantly, I prefer not to. But sure if you have ti open, it makes sense for you to use search :)

I think that search templates are good for now. But eventually it would be neat to have it integrated into visual filter stuff. Not everyone is script able.

If you show me an easy syntax for this, I'll do it. But that's not easy. It will end up in being sort of scripting anyway...
