Shell items on current folder context menu within XYplorer?

Unfortunately, I've always hated the tree with a passion. To me, it's visual clutter, waste of real estate, needs too much fiddling with, and is entirely unnecessary. I always get rid of it as soon as I see it, whether it's Explorer or XYplorer.

Have you checked out the Catalog as an alternative to the tree? Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that unique XY option.

I hope the author of XYplorer will consider adding shell items to the currently displayed folder context menu. And also, the Properties command. I wonder if I should go post this in the Wishes forum now...

Don (author) reads almost every thread in all forums so it's not been unusual for a "T&T,Q&A" thread to morph into and become a Wish thread and get acted on as such.

To answer you, you can't have the shell ctxt menu to show up on a right-click on empty space. And for the record I think that's actually a great feature of XY, because where that menu can be slow (due to shell extension, etc), XY's own menu show up instantly.

Ok. I agree that that's a nice feature for some users, but not for me. I rely HEAVILY on the commands that TortoiseSVN puts into this menu.

I could add the option to show the current folder's shell context menu when you click the list's white space. Would that help?

As you can see, WE's one offers richer options in terms of creating something new.

And did you ever look at XY New Items option? That allows these options and more! However, a shortcut is explicitly handled by the "New shortcut" menu opt instead of being within New.

Welcome to the forums sensei.
I got most of your sms-style abbreviations, but couldn't make sense of the quoted one above.
Anyway I would like to ask you to write complete sentences in future posts. There are already so many abbreviations of XY functions in these forums, (i.e. POM, DP, FVS, VF,...) that reading posts might become a bit tricky if you mix in even more by using sms slang.

Just because it's much faster for you to type it doesn't make it more comprehensible for us to understand. Now I admit to being a 20-something guy so your abbreviations and word-shortening techniques are not lost on me, but don't think I'm harsh when you read this: this is a forum about a sophisticated piece of software so you are de facto expected to follow an etiquette of using complete words and observing as many rules of English spelling and grammar as possible, even if it's not your native language. The clearer you put your point of view across the more inclined we will be to read it, it's mutually beneficial. So please allow me to reiterate: this is a forum, not an Instant Messaging text window and the area where I'm typing these words right now isn't a screen of a mobile phone

sensei: I'd also want to say welcome to the XY forums, and I'm glad that someone else wrote about your SMS style posts, as I've commented similarly before and I'm not into SMS so some of your 'expressions' meant nothing to me ...now I'll be the first to admit to using some unconventional grammar here, and abbrev but mine tend to be IT industry styled...so if you can try to use as much normal English as possible, it'd be helpful to all...thanks!

yeah, i have allready read some of your posts and observed some funny english you used. but where is the problem? you seem to be no native speaker but your english is really not that bad. i will try to improve, u will try to improve... only practice makes perfect, you know.

Quick last thing: I believe the Properties command is also find as File|Properties, so you can trigger it from the File menu or assign a KS/Catalog item to it.

Thanks, you're absolutely right. I missed this. There's the Properties entry on the file menu, and Alt+Enter as well. So, I don't really need it on the context menu - these are good alternatives for me.

I must confess I hadn't looked at the Catalog very closely until now. I see how this could be a useful alternative to the tree for a specific set of folders - and I have a feeling I'll be using it a lot. But I still need to be able to access shell commands (TortoiseSVN) for many, many folders which usually end up being the current folder I'm in due to previous operations.

That would be great. I think this context menu really is the best way to access TortoiseSVN commands for the current directory. I've been trying to get used to the tree, and it's not really so bad (I love how quick and easy it is to toggle stuff in this space with the F8 set of hotkeys), but I still think the context menu is much better for accessing TortoiseSVN commands. It requires fewer steps and less precise mousing compared to using the tree, which is very significant due to the frequent and repetitive nature of the work.

EDIT: I assume by "click" you meant right-click. It would be bad to change the behavior of left-click here, as its current behavior is important.
