[7.60.0040] Problems with Rename

Post by bergfex »

A) "Rename Special" > "Set Extension"

Doesn't work anymore on my PC, I always get "Error 91 (0000005B)".

If I choose another Rename Mode afterwards (e.g. "Rename Special" > "Batch Rename") the window looks like the screenshot (see attachment).
EDIT: Seems to be true for every other window.

B) "Zebra striping" in Rename Preview

1. Configuration > Interface Colors: Assign a color to "Grid" (you don't have to check "Show Grid")

2. Select some files and then select "Rename Special" > "Batch Rename".

3. Open Preview window

4. Wow, what a nice "Zebra striping" effect.

Maybe this is a feature and not a bug, at least prior to version 7.50 this effect never occured.

Well, would it be possible to make it optional (nothing/grid/Zebra)?

Not everyone who uses the grid for the file list, may want to use it also for the Rename Preview.

The Zebra Striping can also (if you choose black as grid color) have such a result:

You are the first to complain. I think an option would be too much here. For me the default color would work (F7F7F7), but it's to bright/light for some users.

I don't see why it would be too much to add an INI tweak to avoid effects which make the Rename Preview window pretty much useless for some "Interface Colors" configurations. :(

Why everyone who uses grid for File List should be delighted to have a Zebra effect for Rename Preview is not really understandable for me... but maybe I just lack some sort of Zen meditation. :?

Update: Never mind, Don. Just keep it the way it is.

Okay, you might be right. An elegant solution would be to tweak the zebra color, and default it to F7F7F7, and have value 0 = "no zebra". Objections here?

cmon; i agree that screenshot looks ugly but it's ur fault. just not choose dark colors, choose yellow or so instead (btw: why on earth do u have windows class theme, looks like xxx)

why do u think ron didn't want to change anything, or why did no one else agree that there does exist problem.....because discussion about colors are petty-minded

ron has more important thingx 2 do - dualpane, yeah... cw2c it
