Opera style mouse scroll through Tabs

Post by ReviewPilot »

Hope this has not been mentioned elsewhere:

I really love the ease of Operas Mouse gestures and RMB-down-Mousescroll to switch/scroll through the tabs.

Maybe....

By default, I have my mousewheel scrolling through tabs if I hover over them. Quite suitable for me :)

well anyhow, it takes me a while to get there. takes time.
would the RMB click and scroll be an option? Makes it a bit faster to access other tabs

I'm really confused here, because for me the wheel does change the tabs without any modifier or mouse button held down.
In fact if I hold the right mouse button and scroll it still changes tab.

Are you just requesting that that be disabled unless the button is held down?

I'm happy that my post resulted in exploring "new" features of XY - me included.

No, Qwertz ;) (sorry I have a german keyboard)
I thought about scrollin thru tabs without having to move the pointer onto the tabs - As tabs are quite small (in height) and I would have to move the mouse from my current interest, my idea was clicking RMB anywhere in XY and while I do this I could scroll thru tabs using the wheel. (Maybe this could, instead of RMB, be any other key, but with the Opera Browser, one got used to RMB, it's working excellent)

As Don always promotes Tabs, this would be a quite comfortable feature for Tabs, supporting the ease of use, woulnd't it?

Ah.. I see! That's an interesting idea, though one I don't think I would ever want to enable.

It is possible to display a menu of the current tabs (Ctrl+Shift+T) which could be used to switch tabs without moving the mouse to the tab bar.

Replicating Opera's behavior within XY should be possible using AutoHotkey, but I'm not sure it would be a clean or reliable workaround. Using the RMB might also cause interference with XY's normal function.

thanks for the tip. hmm, that wouldn't satisfy me as it would not result in interactive scrolling thru tabs - I might be too demanding

Yes, maybe you are right here. combining pressing a hotkey & scroll might be better.
this could also be implemented for sth like "history scroll" - related to the current tab. But this is getting too fancy now
