My Huge Wish List for next XYplorer Release

The Wish List is a bit long but after getting a used to the power of XYplorer now i almost spend
60~70 % of my PC time on it.

I felt that this few things wud help us more in our daily XYplorer usage and keeping track
of various files and folders and increase the speed at which certain things are done.

Feature request

- Seperate Rows for Addr , Toolbar and Tabs [Dont share the rows with anyone , allows more icons].

- Vista like address bar or [Normal address bar [which is currently there] ] , option to select any one style at a time.


- Get Video FPS in Info Panel> Preview and Video File Tooltip Info along with current info.

- Highlight Text Color also like Folder Color Highlight in the Tree Panel.

- Highlight Folder Icons like Star,Tick,Cross,Alert,Any custom .ico etc . in the Tree Panel
[ If possible wud be gr8]



- Write and Append Data to any file.ext from [clipboard / via input $/ specify in the script in ""]

Is there any option to enable clipboard or something.

- [NEW Toolbar] Custom App launcher Toolbar with respective application icons
[Option to switch it On/Off]

- Setting custom PNG or ICO Icons for Catalogue Scripts instead of the standard script icon
and also to highlight folders.

- Dual panel view helps in easy drag and drop from one panel to another , horz & vert.
[Option to switch it On/Off].

- Folder System in FavFolders and Fav List , currently it stores as one single list , also
to add a separator between entries.

I have been playing with this idea recently but dropped it. Having the toolbar alone in a row means you always either have grey space or invisible buttons.

What if the toolbar gets full so that there is very less space for addressbar.

Hope i am not asking too much.

Well....for someone who has been a member here such a short time, I (and this is my opinion) would say that..yes, that is a bit too much! When this has happened before, it has been met with a cool or even frosty reception from the regulars here (just so you know).

And...it gives the impression of "here I am...change it now for me" which may not be what you desire...plus...some of the items that you have listed already have been suggested before (and may even be on roadmap and/or in progress) and have existing separate threads, so I might suggest you do some thread research and locate those, and then update them and this, ok?

Never was able to have either AB or additional TB on menubar line, right? Because there is a whole lot of gray space that is unused and would allow more TB icons. My AB is so small already that I'd even give up one tab slot for it to get the full line of TB!

that's what i did in WE and FF!
and i do it with whatever app i can, since the menubar usually takes only 1/3 of screen space.

My AB is so small already that I'd even give up one tab slot for it to get the full line of TB!

i did it the other way, giving up some useful TB to keep my AB from getting too small.

Yup, most requests are not new, so you should have searched the forums.

Yup would be good. But if its urgent you could use maybe batch to do this.

The clipboard for copying text (like filenames) is different from clipboard for files. The clipboard which is empty is for files. And previous clipboard gets emptied everytime you write something to it. In short you cannot append it. Something called Drop stack is coming soon. You will see it in the XY's roadmap.

Catalog is exactly for this purpose, i.e. to have favorite items inside categories. And regarding favorites, you can add separator by adding "-" wherever you want from list management. Also, you can list of your favorite folders and files and call them from favorite folder. In fact "favorites" is quite versatile.

I dont want to bug you by telling you that please search before posting, I guess you posted all this in a very hurriedly enthusistic way (by seeing how fast XY develops). Anyway, another point is what JC also made, please be reasonable in what you ask. Having a huge list of multiple requests is not very well taken in any forum. Ofcourse, all requests are paid attention too, but please be patient with your requests and put forth one or two of your favorite ones. Just so that you know, XYplorer is developed by one person aka "Don". He does not employ bunch of programmers to do his job, in that light its good to come up with suggestions for features which are actively being actively discussed in forum. So let the inputs flow.

I had tried to provide a couple of links to pre-existing threads, and you gave some others...as you know, with my vision issues, my ability to read/type is much more limited than before April, so having others like you help out our new XY forumite means a lot!

Addendum: Favorite Files/Folders is the predecessor to the Catalog and there was even some discussion about dropping it after catlog was implemented, but it was decided to retain it as it can be used for different purposes.

Its a bit easier with a drop down menu , like others have.

The clipboard for copying text (like filenames) is different from clipboard for files. The clipboard which is empty is for files. And previous clipboard gets emptied everytime you write something to it. In short you cannot append it. Something called Drop stack is coming soon. You will see it in the XY's roadmap.

And now that you know that Don is the solo developer, does that put it more in perspective? We think it's amazing what he does and thus we try to help front-end some of the user questions plus help in design/test/debug via collaborative effort with him.

If you are talking about list now, then you can define any name pattern for coloring. Include this in List management | color filters (editormode), Eg. +XYplorer*>FF702B and all file names with xyplorer will be orange. Is this what you want?

Sorry, I have never done this so cant offer help. But I know that XYplorer supports TortoiseSVN.

No, but you can easily access or write/append to the clipboard if you are willing to use scripts. For example, copy something and type this in you address bar: ::msg "<clipboard>"

I wont force you to use catalog, but catalog has some advantages like coloring them, opening all items in a category in one click etc

I am not sure "-" will create a separator in catalog, but if you navigate to menu "Tools | List management | Favorite folders" and click on new and enter -, then you will see a separator when you access it from menu "Favorites | favorite folders".

Sorry, I have never done this so cant offer help. But I know that XYplorer supports TortoiseSVN.

The format caption which shows 24 fr/sec is not there in my Info panel.
TortoiseSVN looks like a gr8 tool.

TortoiseSVN is not working for the way i wanted it to work.
Still trying to fully understand it.

Shekdo Badges is showing some icons in explorer but those icons are not visible in XY.

Any other ways to give folder icons.
