When you remove the currently active FVS from a folder then it is checked whether any other FVS might now match the folder and if yes, it will become the new active scheme. If no FSV matches, then the current auto-default is applied to the folder. Is that good? I find it a bit irritating that a folder without any matching schemes suddenly adjusts its view to the last saved auto-default (= the last view settings of a folder without FVS). I would rather leave the folder as it is: no scheme matches => no change in view.
However, since this folder is now a folder without FVS, it's current settings (which might be bizarre) will be new auto-default!
So it's either change the folder settings to auto-default (current way), or change the auto-default to the folder settings (better way?). Hmmm...
FVS: auto default after removing FVS?

Re: FVS: auto default after removing FVS?
Well, I'm sure I like the current way better. If I define a folder to be different from the other (e.g. Thumbs, Sort by Modified while others/default is Details, Sort by Name), come the point where I don't want to "single-out" this folder, I could use LM to remove its FV, but it might be easier/faster to just go there and click a button.admin wrote:So it's either change the folder settings to auto-default (current way), or change the auto-default to the folder settings (better way?). But certainly don't want this folder to not only remain "different" (Thumbs,Modified) but turn this FV into the new standard/default! I want this one to stop using its own FV and be back to be like any other folder, aka use the default FV.
You say you find irritating "that a folder without any matching schemes suddenly adjusts its view to the last saved auto-default", but what would (have) happened if you went to this folder while having removed its FV before hand (e.g. through LM) : no matching schemes, so we go for the last saved auto-default. That's how it work!
I would find irritating to loose my default whenever I remove a FV because the FV I remove (cause I don't want it no more for this folder, and I never wanted it anywhere else, hence the folder-specific FV) becomes the new default!!
