Hold right and click left, or the other way around...
Earlier on I mentioned again how I'd like the possibility to define an action on middle-clicks, and I thought I also should mention this cause I thought of it last night and it sounded like a good idea to me...
How about allowing actions on those things you might be familiar with from web browsers : hold right button and click left, and hold left button and click right.
The most common use would probably be either go Back/Forward acc. to History, or go Up/Down acc. to Breadcrumb, though of course adding a script execution here would also be a nice thing... could be another place for some user ctxt menu, or just so that one can put any action he wants here, eg. move to the previous/next tab for instance...

Well I did ask for extension of functionality but with Back and Forth buttons here:

but it doesn't look too likely either.

On several occasions i also thought that it would be nice to have this left-right click behaviour (and vice versa) in XY.
A 5 button mouse is not really the answer. I have one, but all the other buttons are already used for system wide functions.
So +1 for jackys (serendipitys) idea.

I'm also an opera user, and also use this feature very frequently, but not for forward/back.
I use it to go to next/previous tab (to the left or to the right), since I can use back/forw with the other mouse buttons or mouse gestures.
I think it's a leap forward in usability, it's much faster to navigate tabs with flipback/flipforward (that's how the feature named in Opera).
I too would like to see this feature in XY
PS: I advise anyone who uses flipback/flipforward for back/forward to try setting it to next/prev tab, it really is a huge change!

I use it for back/forward, I use mouse gestures (left/right) for prev/next tab, though they are often defaulted to back/forward, but I find my way a lot better. To each his own...jgpaiva wrote:PS: I advise anyone who uses flipback/flipforward for back/forward to try setting it to next/prev tab, it really is a huge change!

Notice that right-click/wheel is not exactly the same "change tabs" that was mentioned before. Right-click/wheel works in "Most Recently Used", while the other "change tabs" is tab to the right/left, which is the same as pressing '1' or '2'Pagat wrote:i also use it for back/forward in Opera. To change tabs i use right-click/wheel. There are so many possibilities
I'm glad to see so many Opera users around here, that proves that XY is the "Opera" of file managers - great in customizability and productivity

yes, i'm used to cycle in most recent order. That's also why i can't get used to XYs Ctrl-Tab behaviour which cycles from left to right. There is also an extra thread for this: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1043

*BUMP*
Just curious if this feature is possible or not. Atleast seems like some of us might find it very useful. And considering that mouse gestures are quite popular among mousers and very few file managers (So far I found only Nao file manager) have this feature it might be worthwhile considering this for XY.

Not at the moment, but I believe (or is it hope?) it will be once "onEvent actions" are supported... can't wait for that day either.
