Forum bug about unread replies

Normally, once I refresh the forum's main page I get that orange square-rhombus to let me know which forums had new replies and so on once I go into those forums. However, lately, even after I go into those forums I still get the orange sign even though I already read the new replies. This varies from forum section to forum section: Script Exchange worked fine but Bug Reports doesn't. The only way to get rid of the orange sign seems to be to click Mark All Topics Read, but shouldn't be like that, right?

I also experienced similar bugs once in a while. I will upgrade to forum software 3.0 within a few weeks. Then we'll get new bugs...

Good news. From personal experience I was under the impression that when latest versions of BBs come out it's always a hurry to update, which meant eyebrows were raised when I saw that phpBB 3 came out over 7 months ago and this board didn't get an upgrade

Yes, it's always good to rush into upgrading without taking time to think about it, ensure backups are ready, have a look at how the import/conversion procedure works, or just see how others may run into trouble and new releases with "last-minute-bugs" come out... Especially when it comes to major version upgrade, not security fix

Sarcasm aside... ...I can understand some hesitation, but over 7 months? Considering the fact that a lot of security updates have been added, then surely it's for our benefit to have the latest version...

P.S. 3.0.2 was released just under a month ago

I have had similar problems at times in the past, and was able to fix them by just cleaning the cookies for this site. Pretty simple to do, and the issue disappeared, at least for me....

If you can tell me how to clean cookies in Firefox 3 on Vista just for this site then I'll give it a go. Much better solution: Don upgrades to phpBB 3.0.2

Dunno about vista, but here's how I do it on XP pro w/ FireFox 3:

Tools->Options, then click "Privacy" across the top.

Click "Show Cookies"
Scroll down to "XYPlorer" and highlight it, then click "Remove Cookies"

That should do it for you (though you'll need to log back in again). At least I'm pretty sure that's all I need to do to get it to work for me...

I've had the same issue, now and then, with unread marking...

And updating to newer release has potential for glitches so waiting a bit for things to settle down isn't a bad idea...there are other forums that are still using the same vers we are here, so as long as we're not the last one to upgrade, I think it's just fine.

I've cleaned up the cookies and things are back to normal now, but considering the behaviour varied from forum section to forum section I reckon is a forum bug.

That's a classic mate! With all due respect, do you apply the same philosophy when it comes to updates through Windows Update? Methinks not...

Months ago I had problems like that, and also sometimes lost password (i.e. had to signon again), with old firefox-version.
With current Version no problem noticed for many weeks!
