Vote NOW! Lifehacker asking for best File Managers

Post by scrotty »

Support the best in Lifehacker's latest poll.

The way Lifehacker polls work is like this:

PHASE 1: People post comments voting for the application they like best.

PHASE 2: Lifehacker extracts out the top 5 named apps and then offers a poll from which users can select among those five only.

We're in PHASE 1 right now. The usual suspects are getting too many votes. Make sure xyplorer makes it the phase 2 by voting in a comment now!

Well, I tried, but given that I've not commented there before, my first time post needs approval and may be discounted, according to thread.

My comment was about how speedy Don is in responding to issues (wishes and bugs) which is what makes XY unique to me.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

It's worth every try. Lifehacker is a very important site -- I can see that from my visitor stats.

Well, it's going to be a close one by the looks of it. There are 3 (maybe 4) file managers that are getting a lot of votes, that leaves 1 or 2 spots open for XY to get in. Frankly I can't believe some of the apps that are getting votes. One of them in particular, when I tried it, was SO slow that I could make myself a cup of coffee between switching tabs! Don, I really appreciate the effort you put in to make XY as speedy as it is. Thanks a lot!

PS--Yes, I put in my vote...last night. Well, last night in the USA, which is about 10 hours ago.

I see that my vote/post there did make it so added an addendum just now, where I suggested that they have a separate discussion about the best "unknown" products as everyone knows about DO, X2 and TC, so just taking the top five doesn't leave much room for other choices like XY.

It made the top 5. Time to go vote again!!!!

It's a poll this time so you don't have to type it in the comments. If you are using firefox you will have to temporarily allow polldaddy (I believe that's the name) in order for the poll to show up.

I use FF and I see it. Tried in IE8 beta, I can tick the radio button but clicking on vote does nothing.

I voted and also left a decent comment as to why WE isn't the best tool for everything.

Personally, I think you need to tone it down some. Each of your comments there has been a few paragraphs that to me, and I'm sure others, read as fanboy advertising.

You don't need to write out a wonderful testimony each and every time you speak of File Managers. :P
