New UI

Post by w64bit »

I noticed that UI (settings windows) is changing slowly but surely.
I wonder if it's any setting to use in order to have these windows have the look of the standard Windows 10 or 11.
This means buttons, ckeckboxes ...

For Tools - Customize (4 places), the UI is not respecting Win UI.

Sure, it's work in progress. But "Customize (4 places)"? Which do you mean?

It's horrible. Is there any way to reduce size these huge buttons for the visually impaired?

There were normal buttons, but what kind of horror is this?

The headline (the one in blue) would also be smaller..

by the way.. I wanted to use the modern menu, but it takes up less space than the classic menu, so I had to abandon this idea.

Are you planning to convert the buttons in all dialog boxes to new ones? That's just terrible.

Thank you, no. I went back to version 28.30

They are all modernized already. Which version are you using?

tried 28.40
UI don't need to be modernized.
It only have to respect Win UI standard, as it is in 28.20.

XYplorer it's here to replace Classic File Explorer - Win32 UI.
If someone needs a replacement for New File Explorer - Fluent UI, a new, parallel version of XYplorer should be made (with these ugly buttons).

in which version did the redesign of the interface begin? I would install the latter, which did not have this "future" interface.

If there were such buttons, then there would be no special questions. Smaller in height, more accurate.

Just to give you a little reason behind buttons getting bigger: as Don said his goal is the future, and lots of users started to use huge monitors/resolutions along with "UI scaling" 150%/200% = which is basically text on buttons scaling, and causes ugly visual problems. Yet some languages have longer "terms" and were already "filling the buttons".
Don't get me wrong, it's understandable one can dislike new changes, but the dev has own reasons. Besides, if i'm not mistaken, in the future new UI should allow users "to re-draw it" as custom skins.(Don can correct me here)

My monitor is also not the smallest in size and DPI. When I see such big buttons, I understand that they were made for the visually impaired or for those who work behind some kind of TV at a distance of 3 meters. I understand that someone might need such large interface elements. But not for everyone!
I can't take the phrase "this is the future" as a joke or as "fuck off" any other way. This is not the future, this is a stupid trend that has been around for a long time. Sometimes you go to a website and zoom out to 60-80% so that at least a couple of paragraphs of text fit on the screen.

When they do, we'll see.
