Glad we resolved it, although I'm not sure why disabling it was required for v1.5a

Simply because the Alpha instances has its own process name,
which is not found using the default name.

With version 27.000.0706 of the XY TB
the script (v0.9.6) has problems with the code page logic.
It returns an empty paper folder.
The content says
'chcp' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
Using XY 28.30.1600 with Everything in XYplorer 0.96 on a Win10 desktop. Everything version is 1.4.1.1032.
I have installed the CLI (ES 1.1.037) in the same directory as Everything.
I have installed the .xys in XY's Script directory and assigned hotkey CTRL-E. When I CRTL-E the Everything in XYplorer window pops up and I type in a search term (which shows up when I enter the same term directly into Everylthing) but when I hit OK XY opens a new tab which duplicates the tab which had focus when I hit CTRL-E.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Does the path match where you stored the es.exe ?
I have the actual Everything 1.5.0.1418b and the script still runs fine.

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
Hmmm ... there's no .ini in XY's script directory. Which I guess could be the problem. What generates the .ini? I assume the script should be doing that. Of course there's an .ini in the Everything directory, but I'm sure that is strictly for Everything.

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
You said that you run the script from the XY script folder
there must be an ini file after the first run.
The script saves its default setting into an ini file which has the same basic name as the script.
This file is stored in the same path as the script itself.
So after the first run you should have an ini file with default setting.
You must edit this file according to your environment if you didn't make all settings in the script itself.

I'm not usually this dense, but I'm having a problem with this. Obviously I missed the step where I need to add the path to the script. I changed the path to this:Horst wrote: ↑03 Aug 2026 15:34 You said that you run the script from the XY script folder

$path = "D:\Utilities\Everything\"; //"<xypath>\..\Everything\"and it still doesn't work. It opens the query window, I type in a term, and it opens a new tab duplicating the tab that was in focus when I launched the script. I'm launching the script via the menu bar > Scripting > Load Selected Script. I also tried launching it from the toolbar button. No .ini file is created in the scripts directory.

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
I've been slowly working my way through all thirteen pages of this thread and on page ten I found a post that said changing $unicode to TRUE got results. So I tried that and the Everything in XYplorer tabs opens!!! That wasn't happening with $unicode set to FALSE. But there are no results.
And yes, I'm using a search term that brings up results when I enter it directly into Everything.
EDIT: I'm using English (US) and Windows is reporting code page 437.

Get the script from here: https://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic ... 12#p179312
Edit it, change that line:
to wherever you have stored your es.exe file.
Only the root path with the trailing backslash, not the full path including the es.exe file name!
Run Everything, make sure you don't use the lite version^^^^
Run the script, enter a search term for a file that is in the same directory as where you're loading the script from (when doing it via selecting it and Menu - Scripting - Load Selected Script File)!
I just tried it and it works just fine...
If it doesn't work, open a command prompt in the es.exe directory and type:
Post the result.
If that command works but you still don't get any results, list the folder name where the script is located, the list of files that would match the search query and are in the same folder where the script is in.
Edit it, change that line:
Code: Select all
$path = "<xypath>\..\Everything_x64\";Only the root path with the trailing backslash, not the full path including the es.exe file name!

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
Thanks highend. We're making progress.
I changed the path to where es.exe lives and ran the script via the menubar scripting > load selected script file and entered a query for a file that is in the same directory as the script. It opened the paper: Everything tab and the result was correct.
Then I tried a query using a query for a file in a different directory. The paper: Everything tab opened, but was empty. The same thing happens if I launch the script while in a different tab.
Running your code from a command prompt gives this:
I know what those files are, but is it showing that es.exe is working? And if so, why is the Everything script not showing results?

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.96 / 2014/07/24
Because you're invoking it wrong / have not setup it correctly
Make a toolbar button and call it from there like:
Now you can go to D:\ in XYplorer, press the button and it will find everything inside of D:\
or go into D:\Tools (if that exists) and it will find everything inside of D:\Tools, etc.
And if you want to always search in everything that's indexed by Everything instead, change this line in the script from TRUE to FALSE:
Then it doesn't matter where you currently are in XYplorer when invoking the script at all (regardless if via the button or via the menu)...
Make a toolbar button and call it from there like:
Code: Select all
e|load "D:\oh, this is where i store the script\Everything_01.xys";
or go into D:\Tools (if that exists) and it will find everything inside of D:\Tools, etc.
And if you want to always search in everything that's indexed by Everything instead, change this line in the script from TRUE to FALSE:
Code: Select all
$loc_aware = FALSE;

Oh Great Master of Scripts --- thank you for your time and insight. It's all working now using your second option so that it searches through all drives/partitions.highend wrote: ↑04 Aug 2026 05:46 Because you're invoking it wrong / have not setup it correctly
