When right-clicking a file in the Recycle Bin, the "Restore" option is missing from the context menu.

I have installed all actual Windows updates and therefore a fully patched Windows 11.
I have still no problems to see the correct file names in Recycle.bin
and use context menu Restore with Explorer or Total Commander.
So what is the problem with XY ?

I am experiencing the same issue. Furthermore, when cutting or copying files out of the Recycle Bin, they are renamed using the Recycle Bin's internal system names, which appear as a string of gibberish.

that is an optional update, so I put it on, rebooted, got confirmation it installed via history, but no Restore function turns up in Recycle bin on right click.

Just to ask the dumb q, why XY and not others caught in this? Are we waiting for an XY specific fix or is it a known specific fault that takes out a key system element that XY is, at least somewhat uniquely, exposed to? Can right click options be managed in the registry somewhere, pretty sure I did that in the past, although could have just been a weed-out, not functionality addition. Or is Microsoft actively jerking around WE competitors, generally or specifically?

It's not just XY. MS has confirmed this to be bug affecting all Win11.

By the way, I don't think Microsoft sees me as a competitor, but rather as a partner. XYplorer actually makes Windows 11 usable.

XY works a little differently from the native Recycle Bin. You can actually open or edit files in the XY Recycle Bin. This feature is very useful, so I hope they keep it this way. However, since it is treated like a regular file, it seems to be getting tangled with Windows updates, preventing the Recycle Bin menu from appearing when you right-click. It might be a mismatch due to a bug in Windows where Recycle Bin file names change strangely. I'm not a developer, so I don't know the details. For now, the menus applied to regular files are appearing.

We're now another month further and it is still broken.
Please, please, please fix this! I use the recycle bin many times per day. This is really extremely annoying.

As far as I read, there are other file managers which do not have this problem.

1. Is there no workaround? Not even a temporary one?
2. Are you saying that from now on the recycle bin will be broken in XYPlorer?
3. How likely is it that Microsoft is going to fix a bug which hurts nobody except for XYPlorer? Do they even consider it is a bug?

Okay, looks like it has been officially fixed on June 23, 2026 with KB5095093. But obviously it's still broken in XY. I guess the only solution will be to use the new WinUI 3 context menus, which is planned anyway. It will happen later this year.
