Best practice for copying settings to a new installation

Running Windows 11. I inadvertently uninstalled XYplorer from my laptop (don't ask how). I backed up my profile (everything in the Data folder) a couple of weeks ago when I started running 28 64bit while still having 27 32 bit. Just now i installed v. 28.

I now have only one version of XYplorer on my laptop, and that Data folder backed up. Getting my serial number/key accepted wasn't a problem. Now, I want to see if I can import my settings, to get the UI just the way I had it.

Should I just delete everything inside the Data folder in my Prog Files directory, and then transfer everything in my backup folder into the Program Files Data folder? Or should I keep the Data folder in my Prog Files directory, and then copy over everything on top of the new files that were installed?

If it matters, I'm pretty sure that the backup Data folder is for settings for the 32 bit version, but I have the 64 bit version installed now. I'm more than willing to go back to 32 bit if it would be better.

If the Prog Files directory is UAC protected then the Data folder should not be there.

The typical setup is:
Application: C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe
App Data Path: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer64


Where the file C:\Program Files\XYplorer\Startup.ini points to the app data path like this:

%appdata%\XYplorer64 will resolve to "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer64".

Which of the paths? Anyway, I guess you want to overwrite everything. If your backup is good.

Thanks, I applied the backup to the app data directory, and nothing blew up.
