1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Opening links (shortcuts) in XY

Post by selukwe »

For unknown reason, clicking on a .lnk file opens the destination in Windows Explorer and not in XYplorer as before. This is quite undesirable. How can I return the previous (standard) XY's performance?

Did you install the KB5094126 Windows update? It seems to have broken various things.

I don't have KB5094126 and the links work well.

Should I and can I uninstall it safely? Won't it break some other settings that may depend on it having been installed?

But is Microsoft aware at all that this KB update is causing problems with XY? After all, XY is not a part of Windows OS...

Well, I hope it causes problems elsewhere, too. :) OTOH, MS usually don't fix bugs. My best hope is that someday I can install that update myself (I wasted half of the day trying to do it with every trick known to the web and failed), then I could easily fix it.

I could reproduce and fix this now. It might not be related to the Windows update. Check out upcoming beta 801.
