:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Double click weirdness

Post by Motueka »

XYPlorer 28.10.0500 (64-bit) Windows 11

When I double-click on a filename, I expect it to open in the default app. About half the time XYPlorer instead selects the file for renaming. I've tried double-clicking at different speeds. I'm clicking on the actual text of the files, not the icon or white space. The only way to be sure of opening a file is to click once and hit return. I've never known any other file explorer to behave like this.

You can disable that behavior here:

Tools | Customize List | Rename On Slow Double-Click

You can also adjust the speed of double clicking in Windows Settings > Bluetooth and Devices > Mouse > Additional mouse settings > Mouse Properties > Double-click speed. Getting to that point may be slightly different in Windows versions other than Windows 11.

It's still an interesting case. I've never heard of anything like this. Is this a fresh instance with no configuration changes?

It was a brand new install of the 64-bit version on Windows 11. The only configuration change I made was to make it the default file explorer. I double-clicked the same way in Windows Explorer and the files opened every time. In XYPlorer using the same hand, the same mouse, the same speed, the same files opened maybe one time out of 3 or 4 tries.

Can't explain it. Nobody else ever reported this and it's not reproducible here.
