While using XYplorer today, the program quit responding. I opened Task Manager and killed the process. When I tried to restart it, it would not open. I also tried the 32-bit. It also would not open. I rebooted my computer and it started working normally again.
I am running Win11. XYplorer is ver 28.005 on 64-bit. Version on 32-bit is 27.20.01. 32-bit also works following reboot.Screen scaling is full screen. While having the problem I noticed a new icon on my taskbar. It was a black square with a right arrow followed by an underscore. I was not able to determine what program it was but following reboot the icon disappeared.

Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Re: Problem starting XYplorer-both 64-bit and 32-bit
I just had something similar happen to me.
XY was idle (ie not in focus). When I clicked in it's window it was brought to the foreground but it's windows was shaded and "Not Responding" appeared in it's titlebar. I left it for a few minutes but there was no change. I killed the process.
Subsequent attempts to restart XY did not work. I could see an entry for it's process in Task Manager and Process Explorer but there is no actual running windows and nothing in the windows taskbar.
In Process Explorer moving the mouse over it's entry shows that it's path is "Access is denied" and the rest of the usual process info is empty.
Right clicking the entry in Process Explorer gives:
Here is environment tab: I tried running an older version but the same result.
In all other respects the computer was working normally.
Weird
John
Edit: After rebooting everything is ok again.

Re: Problem starting XYplorer-both 64-bit and 32-bit
This just happened to me again:
XY'x icon in the taskbar looked normal.
I killed off XY and tried restarting, but it won't start normally. It does appear in Process Explorer like so:
Weird.
As before, everything else on the machine appears to be normal.
Cheers
John
Edit: After a Windows restart XY now starts up normally again.

Re: Problem starting XYplorer-both 64-bit and 32-bit
As long as you cannot reproduce the issue, I'd write it off as a Windows hiccup.

No, not able to repro the issue. It just happens at random.
I would prefer that it was an XY issue because then you can fix it. However I fear you are right that it is a Windows problem in which case it may not ever be fixed.
Edit: although as far as I can tell only XY is affected by the hiccup.

It could also be a tB issue (and I think it is). In which case it will be fixed at some point.
