Save Settings icon on the toolbar is not updated when clicked at in the latest updates.

Those were minor - all beta updates. Not even a week back, something like that. Just after one of these updates I noticed this change.

OK. I seem to have identified the faulty update:

v28.00.0300 still works OK
v28.00.0304 does not, it does not update the settings icon in the toolbar. When XY starts it's painted green. When changed to orange it stays orange when clicked at.

I mean, the Save function works OK when this button is clicked at, and saving is also properly updated in the status bar. Just that the icon colour is not updated to green as in version *0300 and earlier. It stays orange.

Crazy. Can anybody reproduce this?

I've been experiencing the exact same symptoms as selukwe - save icon starts Green, turns Orange on a change, then never reverts back to Green.
I updated from x86 to the x64 build on the 7th Oct (so it would have been v28.00.0212) and the save icon functioned like normal until about a week ago.

Now here's the weird bit - today I opened up 'Customize Toolbar...' and enabled/disabled/changed every available option/setting (saving the config and restarting each time). It made no difference, I couldn't isolate the bug. I then tried deleting my custom toolbars Button Set #1/#2 and that too made no difference.
So I gave up and just restored my XYplorer.ini config from my nightly backup - opened XY and now the save icon functions correctly!?

I've been comparing my current XYplorer data folder to my nightly backup (using Beyond Compare 5 CRC) and other than a few new MRU and folder paths/tabs, NOTHING has changed. I don't understand it at all!

Crazy. Can anybody reproduce this?

I'm able to reproduce this on mine now by Right-Clicking a folder and selecting 'Open in New Tab/Background/Other Pane'.
It also happens if I Shift+dbl-Click a folder to open it in a New Tab.
