It seems to be working fine for me. I moved a session 3rd on my list to 1st in the list and it worked, and then moved it back to 3rd in the list without a problem.

@autocart
Hi
I also tried and did not encounter any issue, neither with XY32 nor 64 (with about 25 sessions, among which 2/3 are ordered)
Can you describle the issue you encounter, and if possible how to reproduce it?

Update: The problem was sitting in front of the monitor.
I had overlooked the info:
<------ Sessions missing and sessions below ------>
<------ will be listed last and alphabetically ------>
All my sessions where inserted below those lines.
As soon as I inserted my session names above, it worked as expected. :D

Bug report: Session Manager v7.90:

Sessions named with an underscore (_) prefix will not appear in the sessions list.

That's not a bug, that's how the script works.
It creates a real script for the menu that it loads and a session like "_testing" will lead to exactly the same line in the script

=> Subscripts inside the script beginning with a _ are hidden!

Solution?
Don't use the _ prefix for a session name^^

@flux:
I just wanted to leave an extra like.
Since you pointed me towards it, I now often use the Ctrl-Click on the SM button to quickly switch to the previously active session.
This really is nice! Thank you. :D

Hi, I'm here wondering if in your next release you could consider setting/fix size the TAB [name] to say: 8 characters and if at all possible when hovering over the TABS show the full TAB name instead of Search:folder name.

I currently have 20 TABS and unable to see the name of each TAB as they shrink far too small and I want to add many more which will make it even more difficult to see or remember the LOCK TAB position.
If that is at all possible I would be grateful for your help.

One minor issue is when selecting the desktop shortcuts via the xyplorer auto method it rarely opens the right saved TAB.

Lastly, I would like to move to the 64bit version, so guessing I will need to uninstall the 32bit due to different folder location but does your [Session Manager] get picked up automaticity or do I need to do something to ensure it retains the former TAB choices?
Thank you so much for this add-on 'app' as I would not be able to cope without it.
Also thank you for all your time and effort in creating it.

Is there anything that can be done about the reducing tab size (when adding extra tabs) to the point of not knowing which tab to click. I've added an extra fourteen underscore to the tab name but this idea does not work as they continue to shrink.
The only tab 'balloon' information is that of the location which for me is the same throughout all tabs.

Is there any way perhaps to force a bottom horizontal scroll bar given a fixed size tabs under version 7.90

Thanks for any suggestions.

I assume you just mean in the main XY UI, cause you can set min tab width here:

Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Flexible tab width

and you can put a tablist dropdown on the left:

Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Buttons position

Hi jupe
Thank you so much, I did not know about this option, so many to take onboard.
Looking at the Tab captions option there doesn't seem to be a 'variable' to show the actual <Tab Name>, guess now that I can easily see the tab name perhaps that not so important now.
Really appreciate your kind help, thank you

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not replying earlier, I was busy (and mostly offline).

So, special thanks to highend and jupe for providing support!
And to autocart and myhead for the kind words. :)

Note:
 – I still haven’t had the time to switch my XYplorer to x64, nor to see what’s changed in general (since XY v27).
 – I’ll be offline until september, so ETA for the next Session Manager update is October. I’ll test it specifically for XY x64, and see if/what changes need to be made.
 – Still, I’d like to hear from you: as usual, I’d rather add a few new "interesting" features too (well, without bloating, hopefully).

 So feel free to post ideas: I won’t be able to reply straight away, but I will eventually when I’m back, and we’ll see how they can be implemented.

In the meantime, take care, 8)

Now, to add some specific answers, even though belatedly:

highend pinpointed the problem exactly. I’ll fix this bug in the next version (ie preventing the use of underscore as prefix).

This seems to be resolved too: As jupe mentioned, this is managed by XYplorer itself.
Regarding Session Manager, I don’t see what usefull options it could enforce or shortcuts it could add (even though it wouldn’t be impossible). You’ll see how things go…

—————————
One minor issue is when selecting the desktop shortcuts via the xyplorer auto method it rarely opens the right saved TAB.
When a session is opened, each pane focuses on the tab that was active when the session was last saved/updated (it’s the tabsets behavior in XYplorer).

✎ TIP: Whenever you rearrange a session and its tabs placement, update it (default: Shift+Click on SM Button, or add the Update action to a CustomKeyboardShortcut (CKS)). Or if it’s your main session, you can set it as AutoUpdate so you don’t have anything to do (Session Manager menu: Actions > AutoUpdate Single…)

- Now, if by "right saved Tab" you mean that you’d like a session to focus on the right-most (presumably latest) tab, well, this could be an option in SessionManager… But it seems quite overkill. Let me now in a few months how things go and how you feel about it.

—————————
Lastly, I would like to move to the 64bit version, […] does your [Session Manager] get picked up automaticity
I presume you already made the switch. But to give a clear answer to anyone interested (although I haven’t tried it yet): from what I understand —and the way Don codes—, the transition should go smoothly, including for SessionManager: it harnesses what’s offered by XYplorer, while keeping its data in the official paths (Session Manager settings in the general scripts folder <xyscripts>; and panes in <xydata>\panes).

—————————
I currently have 20 TABS
Hum, you certainly have your reasons to use 20+ tabs in a single pane…
But depending on the situation, you may benefit from splitting all these tabs into sessions, and switch between them by various means, in less than 1 sec.

✎ TIPS:
- Switch between the last 2 sessions:
      - mouse approach: Ctrl+Click on SM Button (by default)
      - keyboard approach: CKS for Quick Load (eg if mapped to "~"): "~ > Enter"
- Load any session by typing your CKS and the 1st letter of its name, so eg "~ > p > Enter" will load your Photos session, "~ > w > Enter" will load your Work session, etc.
- If you switch frequently between various types of work, Quick Load can be a huge time-saver!

✎ Missing Manual for Quick Load (also available in Session Manager menu: Options > Help: Cheat Sheet…)
• Load/Switch sessions via Quick Load dialog:
> First, assign a shortcut (e.g. ~) to Session Manager Quick Load command:
XYplorer menu: User > Manage Commands... > Run Script > New... > Add New Command > Script:
   ::load "SessionManager", "_QuickLoad";
> To use, press your shortcut, then either:
   - type the first letter(s) of the session you want to load, then Enter, or
   - only press Enter to automatically switch to the previous session

✎ Other ways of using multiple tabs/sessions:
- You can append tabs from (or to) a different session, see Session Manager Actions menu.
- I find myself using more often one of the latest Session Manager features: "Load a Session in a New Window" (Ctrl+Click on a session name, by default). This gives access to 4 panes from 2 different "environments" —without messing with the tabs of the current session!
