v27.90.0042 does not rescale between monitors

Post by AJHetzel »

In regards to the most recent beta version of the 64-bit XYplorer, I have found that it does not appropriately rescale the window when I switch between monitors. The latest 32-bit version did not have this issue. For context, my two monitors are a 17-inch laptop (with apps scaled at 300%) and a 27-inch monitor, both at 3840x2160 resolution.

The attached picture shows what happens when I switch displays. Notice that the resulting frame does not even allow me to move the window, maximize the window, close the window, etc.

1) "In regards to the most recent beta version of the 64-bit XYplorer" ... I assume that's the first 64-bit beta you tried? Or are you saying previous 64-bit betas didn't have that problem?

2) Can you grab the window border to resize it?

3) Paste screen; into the XY address bar and post the results.

In regards to your questions:

1) Yes, v27.90.0042 is the first 64-bit version that I have tried.

2) No, I cannot grab the window border to resize it.

3) See the attached picture.

Probably because I switch monitors instead of having both monitors displaying at the same time. That way, when I return to my office, I simply plug my larger monitor into my laptop and exclusively use the larger display to do my work. The 32-bit version of XYplorer had no problem automatically rescaling (including icons and labels) to fit the larger screen, but it appears that the 64-bit version will not automatically rescale. Moreover, even when I exit and reopen the 64-bit XYplorer on the larger display, the labels (i.e., file and folder names) are almost too small to be readable.

In beta 27.90.0403 (on Windows 8.1), I'm experiencing a similar issue when performing a quick search. In the results window, the title bar remains inaccessible off-screen. This happens regardless of whether I'm using an external monitor or the laptop screen.

The monitor switch is generally a solvable problem, but it will have to wait a while (other stuff in the pipeline). Also the next point probably has to be worked out first.

This sounds strange and does not align with the experiences of many other users. Can't explain.

Strange as well. Are you maybe using some 3rd party Windows skin?

What you see in the screenshot is what happens. There are no issues with XYplorer 32-bit.
I use OpenShell (https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/) to configure the Classic Start Menu, but it only affects Windows Explorer.
Another thing to note: Double-clicking the XYplorer icon in the taskbar resets the window to the correct size; it doesn't do so automatically.
I also use FolderIco (https://www.folderico.com/?v=7) to change the icons of some folders, but this does not affect the registry, in Windows 11 you can do this natively.
Other than that, I don't use any Windows skins.

Okay, that's an OpenShell bug then.

It seems that OpenShell is not responsible, here is a screenshot with that skin completely disabled, the bug persists:

Paste fresh; into the XY address bar and press ENTER. Show a screenshot of the window that appears.
