Hi,
This must have been asked already, so if so, please direct me accordingly. I want to install and run the new XY64 completely independently from my existing 32-bit XYplorer for a short awhile. So I do NOT want to share the same data directory. I figure I'll just make a copy of my existing XYplorer data directory and call it XYplorer64. Then, after installing XY64 into a separate place from XY32, I'll edit the Startup.ini file to point to the XYplorer64 directory.
I don't install XY currently into C:\Program Files and I also locate the data folder elsewhere as follows:
P:\Tools\XYplorer
U:\Jerry\Data\XYplorer
So, for XY64, I'll then have in addition to the above,
P:\Tools\XYplorer64 (with Startup.ini pointing to U:\Jerry\Data\XYplorer64)
U:\Jerry\Data\XYplorer64
So my question is: Is that all I have to do to have everything working and looking the same in XY64 as with XY32? (I realize the 2 data folders will not be synced.)

Re: Running XY64 and XY32 independently
I assume you're already running portably, so you literally just have to make a copy of your x32 XY folder, rename that copy to whatever, run XY and then update it to the latest x64 beta using the command below...
That's it, no need to edit your .ini

Code: Select all
update 1 + 32 + 256; //update to the latest 64-bit beta version
Re: Running XY64 and XY32 independently
I'm NOT running portably, just installing into non-default locations on my computer drive.
I don't understand this running of the update command and why I don't need to change startup.ini. How do I get xy64 to point to the different data directory otherwise?

Re: Running XY64 and XY32 independently
Thank you. The installation worked fine. Everything is working the same. The one additional thing I had to do was run XY64 in Administrator mode to enable XY64 as the default file manager in Shell Integration, then exit and restart normally.
